Teachers to be made professional

In a context of significant development of the French education network abroad, the professionalizing system of PàP allows to best meet the training needs of teachers who enroll in it to improve their skills and be in line with the expectations of French education. Specific offer part of the training plan for staff, the PdP is a complete system, going up to the validation of acquired skills and combining the strengths of distance learning and face-to-face training. It has the essential characteristics of being based on a common framework, designed through high-quality training engineering, but also of being modulable and contextualizable to adapt to the various profiles of teachers.

As a condition for maintaining educational excellence in the context of an important extension of the accredited network, the training offer must meet the needs of the professionalization of teachers. For this reason, a team of many pedagogues and trainers, working in the central services of AEFE and in the network, worked together, and in partnership with Réseau Canopé, to build a quality professional training offer, and in all areas of the network.

Two PaP courses, the backbone of the system, have been created on the M@Gisterère-EFE training platform:

  • The first, “Integrating the expectations of the French education system” was opened at the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year. More than 1,500 teachers have benefited from this inaugural year. This course represents a volume of 49 hours of training for the first degree (kindergarten and elementary) and 41 hours for the second degree (middle school and high school).
  • The second, “Consolidating its practice in French education abroad”, open to the autumn of 2022, represents an hourly volume of 52 hours of training for the first degree and 69 hours for the second degree.

These distance training courses can be followed independently or give rise to personalised support provided by the network’s teachers and trainers.

In addition, very important asset of the PA, which is a device both unified and adaptable to the variety of profiles, the/ the teacher also follows face-to-face training courses according to modalities that can be varied and combined (in the institution with a trainer, inspector or peer, in area-level grouping, with network trainers or partner trainers).

Finally, the PàP offers the possibility of obtaining validations in the form of dynamic certifications or open digital badges (open badges), which are a recognition of the achievements of training and allow to draw up a real mapping of the skills of French education staff abroad.
